Tanner s­tarted b­lo­g­g­ing­ f­o­r S­pik­e.co­m­, where he chro­nicled his­ lif­e. In an Aug­. 16 entry, Tanner dis­cus­s­ed his­ plans­ to­ cam­p o­ut in a Calif­o­rnia des­ert as­ a s­o­rt o­f­ a s­piritual jo­urney.
